Because of the new year, I have the week off, which is cool but daunting in the fact that I have all this free time to fill. Many people are traveling, but I just got to Hong Kong, leaving it scares the bejeezus out of me.
Anyways, the day before new year, I woke up really, really late. I tried calling people to see what was going on, but that failed. So, I tried to orgineze my room. That was futile. Mostly, I just fiddled around with my new computer, a hp mini. It is so tiny, maybe a bit too tiny....
Anyways, I resigned myself to eating a lonely dinner of cup noodles, when I got a call from Jessica. ( An exchange student from WVU, but originally from Silver Spring. One of many.) A bunch of mainland students were having a new years soiree in hostel D, my nieghbor hostel. She asked I wanted to join.
Of course I did.
The main point of this party was to watch a program that is on every new years. It was like a variety show that had very sparkly dresses. Two channels were showing it, one with commercials and one without, but the one without had really bad reception. Some students tried pounding on the television, but to no avail. Evuntually, they ended up watching the good channel until the comercials, where they switched to the poor reception channel.
Overall, it was fun, except for the fact that I had no clue what people were saying. I saw Jakie Chan sing. Had a light discussion about politics with a classmate of mine. I also ate dumplings, lots of dumplings.
Today, I went to see the New Year's parade with some friends. We, went down early to grab a spot. Changed spots twice and then stood for three hours. Since I don't feel like typing anymore, I'll post some videos. I f you want to see pictures, checkout my facebook account.
